Safer Internet Day 2017

This year’s Safer Internet Day campaign aims to raise awareness of how easy it to lose control over anything that you post online.

Our day began with Key Stage assemblies, and then teachers led lessons at an age-appropriate level, including creating warning posters, reminder bookmarks and even composing a song! With some of the older children, we discussed some of the webcam-based sites such as ooVoo, which is particularly concerning the police at the moment, with cases of online grooming in Gloucestershire. A website that we particularly like and think should be of huge benefit to all of us as parents is

 www.net-aware.org.uk

This gives lots of advice regarding the vast array of social media sites that are out there, including what children think about each of the sites. Well worth a visit!
